It’s safe to say Kim Kardashian West’s cosmetic’s line, KKW Beauty, had a beyond successful launch.
The celebrity’s new make-up line includes $48 Crème Contour and Highlight Kits, which can be used to achieve the contour look the Kardashian sisters have become known for.
KKW Beauty In High Demand
Some of the kit shades sold out in just minutes, the medium shade being the first to go—raking in millions for the beauty mogul in the making.
Many beauty fanatics expected the website to crash based on their experiences purchasing younger sister Kylie Jenner’s products.
Yet the launch went off without a hitch even as the stock completely sold out in less than 20 minutes.
Kim sold 300,000 contour kits for about $50 each which meant a $14.4 million sum in less than 20 minutes. Wow.

The kits went on sale the day after a barefoot Kim hosted a KKW Beauty launch party at her home with tons of influencers. Her husband Kanye West, daughter, North West and momager Kris Jenner all made an appearance as well.
Comparing to Kylie’s Lip Kits
Kardashian West’s first drop didn’t sell out nearly as quickly as her sister Kylie Jenner’s original Lip Kit launch in 2015. It’s suspected that Kim learned from Kylie’s mistakes to ensure a smoother launch.
Since Kylie launched, her brand has been fraught with mishaps like empty shipments being sent or faulty lip brushes. Fortunately, with each launch the process became smoother with fewer sellouts, broken pages and defective products.
Yet the launch hasn’t been without controversy there have been accusations of Kim wearing blackface in promotional shots for the new line. The reality star is learning all to well the cost to be the boss.
